ABOUT

JSA.

The vision 2030 Jamaicans National Development Plan reports that Cerebrovascular disease, which includes stroke, hypertension and heart disease, is the leading cause of both morbidity and mortality in Jamaica.

As such, many Jamaicans have either experienced a stroke or has had a family member that has been affected by a stroke and are now involved in the their long term care.

The Jamaica Stroke Alliance was formed in recognition of this, by a group of persons interested in and passionate about preventing the occurrence of strokes and ensuring that when a stroke does occur, the individual can experience the optimal outcome.

The main focus of the Alliance is on providing education and awareness around stroke prevention and the importance of seeking care quickly once someone has experienced a stroke. Other key activities of the Alliance are to advocate for strengthening of services for stroke treatment and care and support for those affected by a stroke.

MEET THE TEAM.

OUR BOARD.

The Jamaica Stroke Alliance has a Board that oversees its activities. The board is a unique and high-powered group of individuals who work in the medical field, in social development, and in business. Each of us has our own story as to how stroke has affected us or those we care about. What we share as a group is a commitment to reduce the incidence and effect of stroke.
